Dear BGRCC Member Your February 7, 2011 BGRCC Bulletin is posted at the following site: http://www.bgrcc.com click on "Bulletin Selector" then on February 7, 2011 --------------------------------------------------------- Be sure and invite your neighbors and all of the new people to come to the meetings. There should be something for everyone at the meetings. Dues are five dollars. Coffee and cookies are free. Once a month we go as a group and eat out at a different place in our area. --------------------------------------------------------- Upcoming events: Next Monday February 14, Valentines Day, we will meet at MiMi's for lunch on Ware Rd. and Hwy 83, 3020 West Expressway 83. Take Ware road exit off 83. and exit North to first street right in (Palm Crossing, where the convention is located.) Mimi's is on the first road pass Barnes and Nobles and on the right side of the street, the last restaurant on that row. MiMi's is saving a back room for all of us and the gratuity is included in the bill --------------------------------------------------------- Special event this Monday We will have donated equipment out and you can make a cash donation to the computer club if you would like to have it. There are a number of printers avaialble along with other items. --------------------------------------------------------- February 7, 2011 Set up time for laptops 8:30-9:00 9:00 10:20 Beginners Meeting By Corinne Higbee We will have DVD's made for the Windows 7 Tutorials We will work on files and folders in class Discussion afterwards. --------------------------------------------- Sites for beginners lessons 65 lessons on many computer subjects http://hometown.aol.com/shobansen3/ABC/ Click on lessons by Corinne Higbee and select a lesson for reference. There are many practical uses for spreadsheets. Keeping a budget is one that comes to mind ---------------------------------------------------------------- You need to know what programs and browser type your computer has on it. You can determine your computer contents by running the Belarc Advisor download from http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use your computer information to see how your maintenance can be done to keep your computer clean by doing the following: Click on All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and run the Disk Cleanup scan first. After you have done the disk cleanup scan then repeat the procedure and do the Disk Defragmenter Scan. This will save space on your hard drive and place files in the best working order on the hard drive for you. Do this once a month if you use your computer on a daily basis ----------------------------------------------------------------- A very fine program you can buy to update all of your drivers is found at http://www.drivershq.com/ I am using this program and it worked well in getting my printer back to working order. Keeping your drivers updated will make your computer run much smoother. This program will scan your computer and tell you what needs updating and get the updates for you. The cost of the program is low and it saves you the problem of seeking out the latest driver at various sites. ---------------------------------------------------------- Need to get “stuff” for your computer then take a look at these sites:| A2Z Computers | Buy.com | J&N Computer | TigerDirect | GlobalComputer | Glossary | PCGear | Drive Solutions | Svideo | DBL Distributing | Applied-Computer | NewEgg | Battery Shop | If you would like to try some new sites then check out the following.
